Dear families,As we return to school in January, our 6th – 12th graders will be making some changes to 10th period which they have already been informed about. As of January 3rd, any student on the SMP list will be required to attend a structured study hall in the cafeteria with Middle School and High School teachers available to give extra help.  Additionally, any student failing one course will also be required to go to a structured study hall in the cafeteria and will not be allowed to sign out of school early.  Middle School students will be separate from High School students.  Teachers from all subject areas have been assigned to assist these students in catching up on their work.  Students on the SMP list will also continue to do a structured study hall for lunch and will not be able to sign out of study halls without a pass to a core teacher.  Our hope is that by the end of the 2nd marking period, we will have fewer failures as a result of this new procedure.High School students in good standing will be able to do additional activities such as using the gym, STEM in the library, additional art time, and allowed use of phones, computers for games, and other fun activities.  Additionally, 11th and 12th graders in good standing are able to sign out for 10th period with a prior written parent consent form to be picked up by your student in the Main Office (we will not accept a phone call, text or Facebook message, or email).  If your student becomes ineligible during this time, they will NOT be allowed to sign out, even with previous written permission.Middle School students in good standing will have the opportunity once a week to use the MPR with Ms. Meigs.  They will also be allowed to use their computers for games, reading with friends, chat, and playing board games. If any student in good standing in 6th – 12th grades abuses the study hall privileges, or gets into any trouble, they will be assigned to the cafeteria for one week.  Additionally, coaches, teachers, and parents may request that a student goes to the cafeteria during 10th period for extra support. If you have any questions, please contact administration.  As always, we want the best for our students.
