We are delighted to welcome Ms. Charles, our new librarian, to Otselic Valley: Greetings! my name is Katy Charles, and I am honored to become the school librarian at Otselic Valley Central School District.  I was a school librarian in the Cortland Enlarged City School District for 11 years and spent the last year as the Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES School Library System Coordinator.  During my time as coordinator, I realized how much I missed working with students and felt a great pull to return to the library environment.  I bring with me experience in bringing STEM experiences into the library through the development of Makerspaces. I hope to have robots, drones, and 3D printers as part of the Makerspace in the future.  I am originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and currently reside in Marathon, New York. I attended Franklin & Marshall College where I received an Anthropology Degree with a Minor in Geosciences.  From there I obtained my Master of Education in School Library and Information Technology through Mansfield University and hold my Professional Teaching License in New York State.  My hobbies include gardening, hiking, reading, and maintaining our 42 acres of fields and forests.  I love this area and am so excited to meet all of you.
