August 2021 Dear Parents/Guardians: Soccer season is just around the corner. For your child to be ready for soccer season, he needs to have an updated physical. If they have received a physical between August 2020 and now, they will be good for this soccer season. Also your child will need to have a medical update/health history form filled out and returned to the nurse's office or main office. Both the completed physical form and health history form (already sent home but both are also available on our website, here)  must be submitted or your child will not be able to practice. Please plan ahead to get this taken care of. Practice will start for the Boys' Varsity team on August 23, 2021 at 8:30 am. Practices are mandatory, and most likely there will be two practices daily; this will be determined at the Parent Meeting on August 19. This is the varsity level of play and athletes are expected to be committed to attending all practices/games and to be a team player. The support of parents is also very important. Playing time is earned by effort and skill achieved in practice. Even though your child is on the team, this does not mean he will always receive playing time each game. All 9th graders interested in playing soccer, whether Modified or Varsity, need to come to the first three practices. After the third practice I will make a decision whether he is ready for Varsity or not with the program's best interests in mind. There will be a mandatory meeting on August 19 in the M P R at 6:00 pm. Please plan to attend the meeting. I need to see a parent or guardian from each player. Without parent support, your children cannot make the most of the opportunities that are given to them. Parents, thank you for your support and time. I am looking forward to this season, and I hope you are too. Thanks and enjoy the rest of the summer. Sincerely, Jacob Preston OV Boys' Varsity Soccer Coach
