Dear Parents/Guardians/Staff: The district learned today, November 11, 2020, that an Otselic Valley staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member who tested positive has not been in contact with students and staff since November 6. At this time, our local health departments are aware and should be contacting the families of the affected students and affected staff. Our school staff followed COVID-19 protocols at all times, in accordance with the district's Reopening Plan, and this helped greatly limit the risk of exposure. We will continue to cooperate and coordinate with the county health departments. At this time, it has been determined that all students will be  virtual/remote on Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13. Other than those staff members explicitly told otherwise, all instructional and 12-month staff should plan to report to work from the school both days. Teacher Aides should not report to school either days. BOCES students will continue to be transported to their programs on these two days. Please note that the federal and state privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive or release any additional information. Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all portions of our school building that are in use by students and staff on a daily basis in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (C D C). For details about our cleaning procedures, COVID prevention policies and more, please see our Reopening Plan at www.ovcs.org. Any additional questions, including information about testing procedures, can be directed to the Chenango County Health Department at 607-337-1660 and Madison County Health Department at 315-366-2361. Sincerely, Georgia Gonzalez Superintendent of Schools
