two yellow and green cereal boxes

It's that time of year, with a twist!

Otselic Valley students and staff will again be participating in a 100th day of school celebration with a Boxed Food Challenge in honor of Harry Marvin, a bus driver who gave generously and quietly to those in need. This year we will collect boxed items that will be set up as a "domino train" before we donate them to local food pantries.

Students and staff will be collecting donations until the 100th day of school, which is expected to fall on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024. Nonperishable food items like the following will work great for both families in need and our domino train:

  • cereals
  • boxed dinners
  • boxed rice
  • macaroni and cheese
  • boxed potato flakes
  • snack crackers
  • more!

Let's collect as many boxed food items as we can to donate in honor of Harry's unspoken generosity. You can just send in your donations with your child when they come to school.

And then...all aboard!   All your donations will be assembled like dominos for a long train of falling boxes that we'll record and then post to our social media. We can't wait for students to see how giving can truly generate a domino effect -- both at school and across a lifetime (thank you, Harry!).

As always, we appreciate your participation and continued support.
