A picture made with paper vase filled with paper flowers and hearts on which classmates wrote nice things

When Valentine's Day gifts rise to the next level, it doesn't mean more chocolate. It means more heart.

Fifth graders showed us how to do this with a recent Valentine's Day project that was creative, personal, and attention-filled. Instead of a store-bought card, students made hearts for their classmates in which they described something special they noticed in their friend. Those hearts were then integrated into an art project that's hanging in our hallway.

Here's a sampling:

--You know a lot of things about snakes and it's pretty cool.
--You are mighty brave.
--Really good at piano and PERCUSSION.
--I like talking to you on the bus. You are very interesting.
--You are so kind.
--I like your haircut.
--Help me when I need help.
--You're magical.
--I like that you hang out with me.
--You're creative. I like the things you make in art.
--You know how to make me laugh.
--You're super smart.
--Make good four wheeler conversation.
--I like that you're a good friend all the time.
--You always give great advice.
--Good taste in color.
--I like your dance moves.
--I like your shoes.
--Thanks for being u.

We hope that when 5th graders walk past these projects in the hallway, they are reminded how they are seen and appreciated.

And thank you, everybody, for taking the time to notice the good that's everywhere.

(As always, thank you Miss Rizzo!)
