Students sit on the floor on both sides of the Primary School hallway to read

Readers first filled one hallway and then spilled into another this morning. There were adults and students, older kids and younger kids, readers and listeners. Some shared books  and others read independently.

Everyone at school was invited to this read-in, an Otselic Valley celebration of Read Across America Day. This recurring event hosted by the National Education Association aligns each year with Dr. Seuss's birthday.  It's a great time to both recall the many Dr. Seuss books that have launched young readers for generations, and affirm that reading benefits everyone, all the time.

Our favorite part of the morning: the variety! Picture books were popular, but others were reading graphic novels (a mix of art and text like a comic), nature books, sports books, chapter books, and more. Reading for fun means you have a whole world of choices available to you. Read what you love -- just keep going!
