Seal of Civic Readiness

Upon graduation, select members of the Otselic Valley Class of 2024 will receive the Seal of Civic Readiness from the New York State Education Department.  Congratulations to Jayson Anderson, Cameron Bartlett, Madison Bartlett, Jacob Hackett, Alexis Learned, Rachel Loomis, Nicholas Palmer, and Sophia Ramsay for this important achievement.

This measure of distinction will appear on students’ high school transcripts and diplomas, and will affirm their high proficiency in “civic knowledge, civic skills, civic mindset, and civic experiences.”  Otselic Valley students are given an opportunity to achieve this seal by completing all requirements for a local or Regents diploma, and earning points via social studies credits, exam mastery, projects in service learning or high school civics, and more.

Both our school and community have long valued good citizenship, civics literacy, and community service. Our thanks go out to our Social Studies Department with teachers Mrs. Jenny Osowski, Mr. Eric Wentworth, and Mrs. Colleen Morse for their leadership and encouragement.

We applaud our students who understand the importance of civic engagement, and who will step into adulthood ready to use and understand the tools and information they've gained. Keep going, Vikings.
