For those who weren't able to attend the Superintendent Candidate Forum to learn more about Mr. Brian Collier, here is his first message to the community. We can expect to hear more from Mr. Collier in the weeks to come as he shares more about his entry plan for Otselic Valley. Thank you, Mr. Collier, and welcome!
Dear Otselic Valley Central School District Community,
I am Brian Collier, and it is with great honor that I accept the appointment by the Board of Education to serve as your Superintendent of Schools. The Otselic Valley Central School District stands as the center of educational excellence within the community, and I am profoundly excited about the potential for our collective achievements in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
Prior to assuming the role of Superintendent of Schools, I served as the Primary School Principal at Oxford Academy and Central Schools, where we successfully introduced new programs and opportunities for students while fostering meaningful relationships with students, parents, the community, and faculty/staff members. Before my tenure as Principal, I held positions as a high school social studies teacher and boys varsity basketball coach at Norwich City School District, contributing to significant academic and athletic achievements among students.
On a personal note, I am a native of Norwich, New York, and later attended Utica College of Syracuse University, where I earned a degree in History and played on the basketball team. When I am not immersed in education, I cherish spending time with my wife, Kari, who serves as a physician assistant at Bassett Healthcare in Norwich, and our two sons, Harrison and Brantley. Harrison, aged 8, has a passion for history, particularly all things Disney, while Brantley, aged 7, is an avid lego and music enthusiast with a special fondness for the classics.
I am thrilled to embark on this journey in Otselic Valley. I have heard countless positive remarks about the community and district, and I eagerly anticipate experiencing them firsthand. I look forward to engaging with students, faculty/staff, parents, and community members, and I am eager to build upon our successes together. I am confident that, together, we can cultivate a nurturing and innovative environment that empowers both our students and faculty/staff.
Thank you for this opportunity to contribute to the bright future of our district. I am excited for what lies ahead in the upcoming 2024-25 school year and beyond.
Sincerely,
Brian Collier
