Otselic Valley Community—
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about potential adjustments to our school calendar for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. When the calendar was initially created, we were allotted four emergency days for the year. However, we have already used two of those days, which could impact our eligibility to receive state aid from New York State. To be proactive, we may need to add instructional days to ensure we meet the state’s requirements.
As a result, if we need to close for an emergency day before the Presidents' Week break in February, Friday, February 21 will be converted from a day off to an instructional day. If multiple emergency closures occur before that break, we will adjust the calendar by working back from Friday to Tuesday of Presidents’ Week. Similarly, any necessary changes to the April break will be handled in the same manner. If we need to close for an emergency day in March or April, Friday, April 25 will also be changed from a day off to an instructional day. In the event of multiple closures in March or April, we will adjust the calendar by working back from Friday to Tuesday.
While we hope these adjustments will not be necessary, we wanted to inform you in advance to provide clarity should they be needed. We understand that any changes to the school schedule may impact your family and schedule as we work to fulfill the New York State Education Department’s requirements.
If you have any questions regarding these potential changes, please feel free to reach out to the district office.
