Otselic Valley Community—

December 23rd, 2024

Dear Parent(s), Guardian(s), and Community Member(s), I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about an adjustment to the school calendar for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. Due to the use of emergency (snow) days so far this year, we will be making some changes to the calendar toward the end of the school year.
The adjustments are as follows:

  • June 20th will now be a full day of school (previously scheduled as a day off for

    students).

  • June 24th and June 25th will now be half days of school (previously scheduled as

    full days of instruction).

These changes will provide us with an additional instructional day, which is crucial to meet the required number of school days for receiving state aid from New York State. They will also help us preserve the scheduled days off during President’s Week and Spring Break.
While the weather remains unpredictable, these adjustments will reduce the likelihood of further disruptions. We will continue to keep you informed in advance should any additional changes be necessary.

We understand that any changes to the school schedule may impact your family’s plans, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to fulfill the New York State Education Department’s requirements.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please feel free to reach out to the district office.

Sincerely,
Mr. Brian Collier
Otselic Valley Central School
Superintendent
